Neurodiversity is an umbrella term, encompassing a range of neurological variations, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and more, highlighting the mosaic of human cognition. Most individuals who are neurodivergent will usually experience more than one of these and the combinations, experiences and outcome are vast. I tend to refer to my self as "Neurospicy" mainly because I experience autism, ADHD, ticks, dyslexia, dyspraxia and Hydrocephalus.

Neurodiversity and Art: A Dynamic Intersection
Art and neurodiversity intertwine seamlessly, creating a dynamic intersection where individuality flourishes and boundaries blur. Neurodivergent artists often possess a heightened sensitivity to the world around them, translating their intricate perceptions into captivating artworks that captivate the senses. The non-linear thinking patterns common among neurodivergent individuals pave the way for innovative artistic expressions that challenge traditional norms and push boundaries.
One of the key ways neurodiversity influences art is through the diverse perspectives it brings to the creative process. Neurodivergent artists often approach art with a unique lens, breaking free from conventional techniques and embracing unconventional mediums. This infusion of creativity results in artworks that are not only visually striking but also emotionally evocative, inviting viewers to experience the world through a different lens.

As someone traversing the realm of diversity, my world often feels like a kaleidoscope of sensations. Diving into the world of art can become more than a visual experience - it is a multi-sensory journey that speeks directly to my soul. The way the colours merge and blend hold a hypnotic allure, drawing me into a world where words are unnecessary. This frees me, offering such elation that it is in these moments that my tics find their own voice - creating an emotional cascade that lifts the soul.

Harnessing Art for Neurodiversity: Empowerment through Creativity
Art serves as a powerful medium through which individuals can navigate the complexities of neurodiversity, offering a safe space for expression, communication, and self-discovery. For many neurodivergent individuals, art provides a means of processing complex emotions, sensory experiences, and social interactions that can be overwhelming in everyday life. Art akkows individuals to externalise their internal worlds, translating thoughts and feelings into tangible forms that communicate across barriers of language and understanding.
Art is also my safe space. When I am nearing burnout or a meltdown, if I can recognise the signs early enough I can go into my studio and allow my art to sooth me. It allows me to get all my ugly out in a beautiful and constructive way. Not all my art makes it to public view, but I find even art produced during these times have a kind of beauty to them.
